There are two ways to shred files and folders - using program main window and using Windows Explorer context (right-click) menu.

Tips:
1. If you use Windows Vista, we recommend you run Delete Files Permanently as administrator so you have permissions to delete all necessary files, wipe Free Space and Recycle Bin.
If you use Windows XP/2003/2000/ME, make sure you have administrative privileges.
2. If you use anti-virus scanner that checks saved to disk files, it could slow file shredding, shredding Free Space and Recycle Bin as anti-virus scanner checks files after each overwriting/verification pass.

How to shred files and folders using Explorer context menu
Using Delete Files Permanently you can easily shred files and folders by right-clicking on them in Windows Explorer and selecting 'Delete Permanently' command in the popup context menu.
Open Windows Explorer
Select files and folders you want to shred
Right-click on selected files and folders and select 'Delete Permanently' command in the popup context menu

Select preferred shredding scheme from the drop-down list (you can use 'View scheme' button to view all passes).

Click on 'Delete Permanently' button to immediately shred selected file(s) and folder(s).
How to shred files and folders using program main window
Double-click on Delete Files Permanently desktop icon

Click 'Tools' button in the toolbar.
Select 'Delete permanently' item.

Select preferred shredding algorithm from the drop-down list.
If you don't remember how this shredding algorithm will destruct your file, you can use 'View scheme' button to view all passes.
Select file(s) and folders you want to shred using 'Add file(s)'/'Add file(s)'buttons.
Click on 'Delete Permanently' button to immediately shred selected files and folders.

To shred free disk space:

Click 'Tools' button in the toolbar.
Select 'Wipe Free Space' item.

When you delete files from your computer, they are temporarily stored in the Recycle Bin so you may easily restore the files to their original location if necessary. To permanently delete files from your PC, you need to shred Recycle Bin content.
To empty and shred Recycle Bin:
Double-click on Delete Files Permanently desktop icon and click 'Tools' button in the toolbar.
Select 'Empty and Wipe Recycle Bin' item.

Select shredding scheme from the drop-down list.
Select where you want to empty and wipe Recycle Bin.
